Barentz

Barentz (c. 1550 – 1597), full name Willem Barentsz, anglicized as William Barents or Barentz, was a Dutch explorer of the Arctic, born in Friesland. He discovered Spitzbergen, and doubled the North-East extremity of Nova Zembla in 1596. He died on the return voyage in 1597.
