Bârfrüsh

Bârfrüsh, literally a market town, also known as Barforush, was a town South of the Caspian in Iran. It was famous for its bazaar. In 1931, it was renamed Babol, by the order of the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty king Reza Shah (1878-1944). It was the center of Mazandaran during the Zand dynasty era, and later of Mazandaran province.
