Barlowe

Barlowe (d. 1690) was a French watchmaker, sometimes mentioned as inventor of the repeating watch. Nevertheless, the invention of the repeating mechanism for clocks is attributed to the English cleric and inventor, Reverend Edward Barlow, around 1676, who later applied this innovation to watches. The patent for watches was, however, ultimately awarded to Daniel Quare.
