Barramundi

Barramundi is the name of any of a number of a large group of fish, chiefly freshwater but also marine. These are found in Australia and Southeast Asia. One of the notable barramundi, valued as a food fish, is Lates calcarifer belonging to the family Centropomidae, that migrates between the sea and rivers. Another barramundi that is popular among fly fishermen is a mouthbrooder belonging to the genus Scleropages, and the family Osteoglossidae. Scleropages leichardti is another notable mouthbrooder fish of the same name.
