Barrel cactus

Barrel cactus is a cactus. It derives its name from its being barrel shaped (cylindrical). It is spiny and ribbed. It belongs to the family Cactaceae. Several genera and species of barrel cactus are found. They grow yellow, orange, or red flowers. The genera Ferocactus and Echinocereus are particularly noteworthy. One of its famous species is Arizona barrel cactus (Ferocactus wislizenii).
