Base pair

Base pair is a term in biochemistry for a pair of complementary bases in a double-stranded nucleic acid. It consists of a purine in one strand, and a pyrimidine in the other. Both of them are linked by hydrogen bonds. Cytosine always pairs with guanine. Adenine in DNA pairs with thymine, but it pairs in RNA with uracil.
