Base unit

Base unit is a name given to a fundamental unit. It is defined arbitrarily, not by combination of other units. In Systeme International (SI), ie the International System of units, the base units of measurement are - meter (for length), kilogram (for weight), second (for time), ampere (for electricity), kelvin (for heat), mole (for amount of substance or particles), and candela (for luminous intensity).
