Basin

Basin is the name given to a bowl that is typically used for washing hands or utensils, attached to a wall, with faucets connected to water supply. The open, round, and wide containers, used for holding liquids are also called basins, and also such a natural depression on the surface of the earth containing water. A tract of land drained by a river and its tributaries is also called basin. It is Basin is the total area from which surface runoff is carried away by a drainage system. Other comparable terms are "drainage area", "catchment area", and “watershed”. The lake or sea into which the rivers or tributaries drain into are also referred to as basins. In navigation, an enclosed area of water for vessels to be moored is called basin. In geology, basin is a circumscribed area having the strata of rock sloping towards the centre.
