Basques
Basques are a people of the Western Pyrenees, partly in France and partly in Spain. The region they live in is called
Basque Country. They are distinguished from their neighbours only by their speech, which is non-Aryan. Culturally, they are one of the most distinct people in Europe, and were largely independent until the 19th century. They are a superstitious people, conservative, irascible, ardent, proud, serious in their religious convictions, and pure in their moral conduct.
