Batfish

Batfish is a marine fish, found in tropical and temperate seas, has a flattened body, round or almost triangular when view from above, typically has a hard or spiny coverings. It belongs to the family Ogcocephalidae. There are several genera and species of batfish which includes the Southern African Halieuta fitzsimonsi.

There is another fish which is also known by this name. This batfish is deep-bodied, laterally compressed, and resembles an angelfish, sometimes also called angelfish. It is a marine fish of the Indo-Pacific region. It belongs to the genus Platax and the family Ephippidae. Several species of this fish are also found which includes the large Platax pinnatus.
