Bath

Bath is a town in Somerset, on the Avon, in the United Kingdom. It is now famous as spa town, however, this town in southwestern England have also been known as a cathedral city. It has been a place of fashionable resort from the time of the Romans, on account of its hot baths and mineral waters, of which there are six springs. It was the scene of Beau Nash's triumphs from 1704 to 1750. The town has a number of educational and other institutions, and a fine public park. It perhaps derives its name from its hot baths, since a resort with a mineral spring used for medical treatment is also called baths.

The public establishment offering bathing facilities is also usually called baths. A bath is a process or an act of immersing one's body in a large container of water to wash oneself. It is also a short form of bathtub which refers to the container and the water in it. A bathroom is also called a bath. It may be noted that any container holding any liquid in which something is immersed is called a bath, such as in film developing in photography.

Bath was also an ancient Hebrew liquid measure. One bath was equal to 40 liters or 9 gallons.
