Baton

Baton is a short stick or staff, or a similar thing in shape, used variously by different people. It is a police officer's club, but for a conductor of a musical event it is the thin stick by which direction is given to an orchestra or a choir. In game, such as in a relay race, it is a short stick or tube passed from runner to runner. A long stick carried and twirled by a drum major is also called a baton. Sometimes, such a stick is merely a symbol of office or authority, especially one carried by a field marshal. In heraldry, baton is the narrow bend truncated at each end. The dial of a clock or watch may have batons, ie the short bars that replace the figures.

Batons, is some tarot packs, is one of the suits corresponding to wands in others.
