Battalion

Battalion is a large body of troops, especially in infantry, ready for battle. It is commanded by a lieutenant colonel. This infantry unit forms part of a brigade, a subdivision of an army. Any organized group of a large number of people can also be called battalion, especially when they are pursuing a major undertaking.
