Battle of Actium

Battle of Actium was a naval battle off the promontory of Actium in Western Greece which took place in 31 BC between Octavian and the combined forces of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. It was the decisive confrontation of the Roman Republic.

Octavian defeated Mark Antony and the victory enabled him to consolidate his power over Rome and its dominions.
