Battle of Pultowa
Battle of Pultowa (also Poltava) was fought on July 8, 1709 between the Swedish army under Charles XII and the Russians under Peter the Great. Swedish army was defeated in the battle and Russians won. It marked the end of the Swedish Empire as a European great power and the beginning of the Russian supremacy in eastern Europe.Nearby pages
