Bean

Bean is a seed of a leguminous plant, and also the plant that grow it. The seed is typically kidney-shaped, grows in long pods, and many of them edible. Many of the plants are creepers. The seed of coffee, cocoa, and certain other plants is also called bean. Phaseolus is most common among its several genera. It belongs to the family Leguminosae. Numerous species of beans included the 'scarlet runner' (Phaseolus coccineus), 'kidney bean' (Phaseolus vulgaris), and 'broad bean' (Vicia fada).

Bean is also an informal term for a person's head as a source of commonsense. The word bean is also emphatically and informally used for a very small amount of something or nothing at all, such as 'not a single bean'.
