Bearded vulture

Bearded vulture, also lammergeier, is a large Old World vulture. Its feathers are dark and beardlike, and hence its name. It lives in mountainous regions, and is noted for dropping bones from a height to break them. A fully grown up bearded vulture has a wingspan of 10 feet (3 meters). Its zoological name is Gypaetus barbatus, and it belongs to the family Accipitridae.
