Begonia
Begonia is a herbaceous plant. It is widely cultivated for its bright flowers and striking foliage. The flowers have brightly coloured sepals but no petals. It grows in warm climates. It is named after the French amateur botanist Michel Bégon (1638 — 1710) who discovered the plant on the island of Santo Domingo and introduced it to Europe. The plant belongs to the genus Begonia, and the family Begoniaceae.
