Beira
Beira is a region in Portugal Republic. It was formerly a central province of Portugal, mountainous and pastoral. It gave title to the heir-apparent to the Portuguese throne. The province was divided in 1832 into two — Beira Alta Province and Beira Baixa Province, and in 1936 into three — Beira Alta Province, Beira Baixa Province, and Beira Litoral Province. The provinces were abolished in 1976.
