Belemnite

Belemnite in the name of an extinct cephalopod mollusk having bullet-shaped internal shell. Its fossils are found in marine deposits of Jurassic (between 208 million to 146 million year ago) and Cretaceous (146 million to 65 million years ago) periods. It belonged to the order Belemnoidea, and the class Cephalopoda. The analysis of its fossils suggests that there were several genera of belemnites.
