Bell

Bell is a hollow metallic musical device having a deep inverted cup shape widening at the lip with a clapper inside. It produces a clear musical note when struck. Any device that produces a sound like a bell is also called a bell, such as electrical bell. A bell shaped object is also called by this name. A bell rung to denote intervals of time is called the bell, such as used in sports and in other places. As a nautical term, it denotes the time as indicated every half hour of a watch by the striking of the ship's bell one to eight times, such a use is preceded by numeral, as at four bells.

The tubular bells are also called bells in short. These are a set of cylindrical metal tubes of different lengths hung in a frame and played by being struck with a hammer.

Bell is also a cry of a stag or buck at rutting time.
