Benchley
Benchley is the name of a family of US writers. Robert Charles Benchley (1889 — 1945) was a drama critic, actor, and humourist. He worked as a theatre critic for Life magazine from 1920 to 1929, and for The New Yorker from 1929 to 1940. Robert's son Nathaniel Benchley (1915 — 81) was an author known chiefly for his humourous novels of which Lassiter's Folly (1971) is most famous. Nathaniel's son Peter Benchley (1940 — 2006) was also an author. His notable works are 'Jaws' (1974), 'The Deep' (1976), and 'White Shark' (1994).
