Bent

Bent refers to something sharply curved or having an angle, such as the bent pole. It is also an informal term to refer to someone dishonest or corrupt. It is also a derogatory term that is informally used to refer to a homosexual person. Someone bent on doing or having something is determined to do or have that thing.

Bent is also a natural talent or inclination for something, such as a bent of mind.

A bent, also bent grass, is a stiff grass. It is a component of pasture and hay grasses. It is also used for lawns. There are several genera of this grass including Agrostis. It belongs to the family Graminae. Several species of this grass are also found which included the 'common bent' (Agrostis capillaris).

The stiff flowering stalk of a grass is also called bent. Any stiff-stemmed or rushlike grass or sedge is also called a bent but such a use is now considered archaic.

In local dialects of some regions a heath or unenclosed pasture was also being called by this name. The term, in this sense, has also now become archaic.
