Benthic

Benthic is a term in ecology for anything of or relating to benthos. This term originally referred to something pertaining to, living on, or in the bottom of the sea; or upon or attached to the sea bottom (as opposed to pelagic).

Benthic organisms are the organisms that live on the bottom of the ocean. They are not free-floating like pelagic organisms are.
