Beringia

Beringia is a region comprising of the Bering Strait and the adjacent parts of Siberia and Alaska. The region is referred to as such in connection with the migration of animals across the former Bering land bridge. It is name after the Danish explores Vitus Bering (1681 — 1741), who was in service of the Russian empire.
