Berne

Berne, also Bern, is the capital of Switzerland. This fine Swiss town on the Aar, which almost surrounds it, is located in the west central part of the country in a populous canton of the same name. It is the capital of the Swiss Confederation since 1848. It commands a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps, and is a busy trading and manufacturing city.
