Beryllium

Beryllium, symbol Be, is an element having atomic number 4. It is a hard, gray, and the lightest of the alkaline earth metals. The mineral beryl is its chief source. It is used in the manufacture of light corrosion-resistant alloys, as a hardening agent, and in windows in X-ray equipment, both medical and industrial X-ray machines.
