Bessarabia

Bessarabia is a region in eastern Europe, in the southwest of Russia between the Dniester and Pruth (Prut rivers). The region was a province with its own government, which became part of Romania during 1918 --40. Today, it lies in Moldova and Ukraine. It is chiefly a cattle-breeding region, which exports cattle, wool, and tallow.
