Betel

Betel is name of a leaf of an evergreen Asian climbing plant, and the plant that grows it. The leafs are used in the eastern part of the globe, such as in India, as a mild stimulant. A coat of lime and catechu is applied on the leaf and then paring of areca nut, cinnamon, and other spices, and sometimes tobacco products, etc are wrapped into it and then chewed. It makes saliva red. The betel plant is related to pepper. Its botanical name is Piper betle, and it belongs to the family Piperaceae.
