Bethel

Bethel (i. e. house of God) is a place 11 miles north of Jerusalem, scene of Jacob's dream, and famous in the history of the patriarchs.

A bethel, thus came to mean a holy place, a chapel for seamen, or a Nonconformist chapel.

There is also a town in the Catskill Mountains in southeastern New York, a state in the United States. The Woodstock music festival of 1969 was held here.
