Bharat

Bharat was a son of King Dushyant and Shakuntala. He was born in the hermitage of sage Kanva. India is known as Bharatvarsh after his name.

Bharat did not have any son. Therefore, he prayed to the God Marut to bless him with a son. His prayer was granted and Marut gave him a son who was named Vitath. He was an ancestor of the Kaurav and Pandav.
