Bhasmasur

Bhasmasur was a demon. According to Indian mythology, he asked for a boon from lord Shiv. The boon was granted. As per the boon, if he touched somebody’s head that person would burn to ashes.

After getting the boon he started chasing Shiv to burn him to ashes. Shiv was saved by Vishnu's intervention. Vishnu appeared before him as a beautiful maiden. Having seen the beautiful maiden, Bhasmasur proposed her to marry. The maiden put a condition for marriage. She said she would marry him if he can dance like her. Bhasmasur accepted the condition and started following her dance. In one of the postures, she put her hand on her head, which was promptly followed by Bhasmasur, that turned him to ashes.
