Biafra

Biafra is a region in southeastern Nigeria, inhabited chiefly by Ibo people. The people of this region sought independence and proclaimed it to be a state in 1967, and remained as such until 1970, when the proclaimed new state's troops were overwhelmed and defeated by the Nigerian troops. After the civil war (1967 — 1970) was over, the proclaimed state was reunited with Nigeria.
