Bias

Bias is a prejudice in favour or against a person, group, or thing in comparison to others. It is considered unfair and therefore discouraged. Certain acts of bias are also made illegal and punishable.

Bias is also too much interest is a particular area or subject affecting the thinking process of a person. In statistics, it is a systematic distortion of a statistical result. It occurs due to certain factors that are not allowed for in its derivation. In sports, such as lawn bowling, the irregular shape given to a ball is called a bias, and also the oblique course that is taken by such a ball due to its irregular shape.

In electronics, bias is a steady voltage, magnetic field, or other factor applied to an electronic system to make it operate over a predetermined range of frequencies.

Cutting on the bias is an oblique or diagonal cut across the grain of a fabric or garment.
