Bidonville

Bidonville is a shanty town, especially on the outskirts of a North African city. Since it is built by oil drums and other metal containers it is called bidonville, literally a town built with containers in French. Bidon in French is a 'container for liquids' and 'ville' is 'town', which are compounded to form the word bidonville.
