Billbug

Billbug is name of a typically large weevil, a type of beetle known for elongated snout. It is herbivorous and therefore feeds on various grasses and grains. Numerous species of billbugs are found which includes one of the most damaging species called the maize billbug (Sphenophorus maidis). This species seriously damage corn plants and even kill poultry by clamping onto the bird's tongue or throat. Billbugs belong to the genus Sphenophorus, family Curculionidae, and subfamily Rhynchophorinae.
