Bimal Das Gupta was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. President of the European Association and Peddie Case Born 1911 at Basanda, Barisal, Bangladesh. S/O late Akshay Kumar Das Gupta. Joined Sri Sangha at the age of 17. Shot James Peddie, DM of Midnapore in April 1931. In October 1931 areested while shooting Villiers, President of the European Association. Sentenced to 10yrs RI there was no direct evidence so could not be convicted in Peddie's Case. Deported to Andamans in 1932. Participated in both hunger strikes and then in another in Dum Dum Central. Repatriated in 1938 january. Released from Barisal jail in 1940. Total Jail period 9 years.
