Binomial

Binomial is a term in mathematics for an algebraic expression involving two terms connected by a plus or minus sign, such as a+b or a-b.

However, in biological or botanical nomenclature, it refers to a two-part name consisting of two terms. Such a name typically consists of the genus followed by the specific epithet, for example - Homo sapiens. Several living organisms are named in this fashion, especially the Latin names of a species.

In grammar, a noun phrase is called a binomial when two nouns are joined together with a conjunction, and their order are relatively fixed, such as 'bread and butter'.

This term is also used as an adjective to simply refer to two things or to anything that contains a binomial, such as binomial theorem.
