Binomial nomenclature

Binomial nomenclature is a term in biology for the system of nomenclature in which a species, but no taxon or any other rank, is denoted by a combination of two names. In this system of nomenclature a living organism is named by using two terms. The genus is indicated by the first term while the second term denotes the specific epithet.
