Bioaccumulation

Bioaccumulation is a phenomenon of accumulation or concentration of a substance inside the bodies of living organism. For example, the uptake of substances — e.g. heavy metals or chlorinated hydrocarbons — leading to elevated concentrations of those substances within marine organisms.
