Biology

Biology is the scientific study of living beings. It is the science of life or living matter in all its forms and phenomena. This natural science is concerned with structure, function, growth, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy of life and living organisms.

In brief, Biology is the science of animal life in a purely physical reference, or of life in organised bodies generally, including that of plants, in its varied forms and through its successive stages.

It is broadly divided into zoology and botany. Subdivisions of these sciences include cytology, histology, anatomy or morphology, physiology, and embryology. Also included in biological studies are the sciences of genetics, evolution, paleontology, and taxonomy or systematics, the study of classification.

The other branches are biochemistry (physiological chemistry), biophysics (the physics of life processes), bioclimatology and biogeography (ecology), bioengineering (the design of artificial organs), biometry or biostatistics, bioenergetics, and biomathematics.

Biological concepts are prehistoric, however, these began to develop among the early Greeks.
