Biraj Deb

Biraj Deb was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India, born in May 1915, Komilla, now in Bangladesh. He was son of Ishwar Chandra Dey. He joined Shree Sangha Group. He was arrested on 13th of March 1933, and was sentenced to transportation for life for 20 and 25 years respectively in two cases, but the prison term was to run concurrently. After the sentence, he was deported to the Andamans. He took part in second hunger strike and also the Alipore Jail hunger strike in 1939 July for 36 days. He was repatriated in January 1938 and released in August 1946. His total jail period was 14 years.
