Bishop
Bishop is an official of the Church, a senior member of the Christian clergy, originally an overseer of souls, eventually an overseer of churches, especially of a district, typically in charge of a diocese, and conceived of by High-Churchmen as representing the apostles and deriving his powers by transmission from them. He is empowered to confer holy orders in his jurisdiction.There is also a bird called by this name. The bishop bird is an African weaverbird. A male bishop bird has red, orange, yellow, or black plumage. The red bishop, one of the several species, zoological name Euplectes orix, has scarlet plumage with a black face and underparts. Bishop bird belongs to the genus Euplectes, and the family Ploceidae.
In game of chess, bishop is a piece on board, typically with its top shaped like a miter. Each of the two players starts the game with two bishops on board. One of the bishop always move diagonally on white and the other on black squares.
