Bivalve

Bivalve, literally having two valves, is a term in zoology and botany. It refers to a mollusk of other aquatic invertebrate having hinged shell.

Bivalve, also called pelecypod or lamellibranch, is also an aquatic mollusk with hinged shell enclosing its compressed body within, such as oysters, scallops, clams, and mussels. It belongs to the class Bivalvia, formerly called Pelecypoda or Lamellibranchia.
