Blackbird

Blackbird is name of a bird having black plumage. One is a European thrush of the genus Turdus, sub-family Turdinae, and the family Muscicapidae. Among its four species, the Turdus merula is most noteworthy, for the male of this species has all-black plumage, though has a yellow bill.

The American blackbird is another species. The male of its kind has iridescent black plumage with patches of yellow or red. It has a strong pointed bill. It has several genera and species, though belonging to the same family Icteridae. Redwinged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) is found in abundance.
