Blackout

Blackout is complete failure of electrical power supply due to certain fault in transmission or a period during which power supply is intentionally cut. During war time, especially when there is a threat of air raid by enemy, power is switched off during blackout, and even dark curtains are put up on windows to cover lights. Blackout is also the time when lights are suddenly turned off on the state of theatre. A suppression of particular information in the media, prohibition of certain activity, or sudden temporary loss of consciouness are also called blackout.
