Blitz
Blitz, also a blitzkrieg, is a sudden, swift, and intensive military attack intended to bring about a swift victory. The German air raids on Britain in 1940-41 during the World War II was one of such attack and therefore simply called the Blitz. A blitz is also an informal term for a vigourous and concerted effort for accomplishing a specific task in hand. This term is also used in sports. In football, blitz is a defensive charge, directly and immediately at the passer, by the defensive linebackers just after the ball is snapped. Blitz is also a form of chess in which players are required to make their moves within a pre-decided very short interval.
