Block

Block is a solid large piece of rock, stone, wood, or some other hard material having at least one flat surface. A solid material having rectangular surfaces on each side, typically used as masonry building unit is also called a block, and also a sturdy, flat topped piece on which particular tasks are done, such as chopping, cutting, or beheading. Building blocks in child's toy are the wooden or plastic cubes. Block is also a set of buildings, a part of a building complex, or the area bounded by four streets. In printing, block is an engraved piece of wood or metal used for printing on paper or fabric. Block is also a short name for cylinder block or engine block, the main body of an internal combustion engine containing the piston.
