Blood libel

Blood libel is an accusation against the Jewish people that they used Christians' blood in some of their religious rituals, especially in preparation of the Passover bread. Blood libel was rampant throughout the Middle Ages, but its recurrence greatly reduced later periods, and by the early 20th century, it was being heard only sporadically.
