Bodkin

Bodkin is a needle, thick and blunt, and having a large eye. It is used especially to draw a cord or tape though a hem. The small pointed instrument that is used to pierce leather or thick cloths is also called bodkin. There was a time when a long pin called bodkin was used for fastening hair. In metal printing, a pointed tool named bodkin was used to remove the pieces of metal types so that corrections could be made by replacing them with other metal types.
